So my boyfriend and I have been dating two years today. What did we do to celebrate? Since we live in Knoxville, we went to the local convention, Fanboy Expo 2013. IT WAS AMAZING.
My boyfriend got two Spiderman pint glasses and some Marvel posters. Then he got me a movie I've been searching high and low for -- Dracula: Prince of Darkness starring Christopher Lee. I swear, my boyfriend is the sweetest guy; I am truly grateful to have him. Not to mention he's as big a comic book/anime/video game nut as I am.
Celebrities included Cassandra 'Elvira' Peterson, Lee Majors, Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), Bill Mosely (Devil's Rejects), and Anthony Michael Hall (whom I got my picture taken with -- what a sweetheart!) But there was one man in particular that I had been dying to meet: Kane Hodder. He played Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th Parts 7-10 and Victor Crowley in Adam Green's Hatchet trilogy. As a big horror fan, especially of franchises such as Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street, I made it my goal to meet him. I took my favorite Jason piece that I had done, [link], and asked him to sign it. He did, and he was impressed with it. I can't begin to describe how happy that made me to hear him say that. I also bought a copy of his biography (which he also signed, and in return didn't charge me for the other autograph) titled Unmasked. I suggest you read it. I've already read the first couple of chapters and can say without a doubt that Kane Hodder earned his title as a horror icon and more. Before we left he told me to keep up with the amazing artwork.
Overall it was an amazing day. Sucks that it had to come to an end; I have summer classes from 6 am to 3 pm every day Monday through Friday for the next three weeks. I'll try to upload new stuff when I get the chance.
Peace out.
