The enchantment is lifted, and all of the castle's inhabitants are human again, including the underloved composer. Fife approaches Forte, who lies unconscious on the cold stone floor. Inspired by a fanfic titled "Chiaroscuro" on ff.net.

I honestly doubt that fall killed Forte, considering his size as a pipe organ; he took up an entire wall space. And if you compare it to other Disney falls like oh, say, off the tower of a castle, or a plunge from a cathedral balcony into molten lead, it wasn't that big of a drop. But that's just me.
